House Redelinghuys - Kraaibosch - George

House Redelinghuys occupies a relatively steep site in the Kraaibosch Country Estate (George). The property has north facing mountain views and the road access is also on the north side.

With a simplistic and non-assuming architectural envelope, the dwelling was primarily designed to offer a pleasant and cost effective habitat for the owners. Great care was taken to successfully combine functionality with well defined, but inter-flowing spaces. A timber pergola structure beckons visitors into a double volume entrance hall, with natural stone and plant features.

The first storey contains the open plan living and entertainment areas, from where the main en-suite bedroom can be reached via a suspended walkway bridge floating over the double volume entrance hall below. The living and dining area spills out onto a covered patio, with breathtaking views over the Outeniqua Mountain.
